Meals in Homes
The donor agrees to serve a meal at their home, unless otherwise specified, on a mutually agreeable date with the buyer. The donor specifies the number of people to be invited and usually designates a certain type of meal—anything from pizza to a brunch, a holiday meal, a home-style meat-and-potato meal, grilled meal, Amish meal, etc. After arranging the date, the buyer invites his/her guests to the meal. Unless otherwise noted, meals expire one year from this year's benefit. Meals donated for the 2018 Benefit included the following:
Treat yourself to a "buyers choice" of Saturday brunch, Saturday night meal, or Sunday noon for 6-8 people at Derek and Nici Bontrager's rural Kalona home.
Enjoy Fried Chicken with all the trimmings including dessert for 12 people at the Amish homestead of Warren and Ila Miller, rural Kalona
One 9 x 13 pan of Cinnamon Rolls made by Maxine Mast each month for one year beginning January 2019. Please give 1 week notice. Delivered in Kalona; otherwise please pick up. (Two of these will be offered)
Bruce and Karen Harvey offer a Thai meal BUT this is NOT a duplicate of the regular Thai meal with several entrees. This is a Northern Thai soup meal with a Chicken Curry Soup over noodles with various toppings. Makes a great lunch or winter evening meal. For 6-8 people.
John Yutzy donates 4 certificates, each for 6 qts. of Yutz's home made ice cream. Choose your flavor! Use before November, 2019.
Marc and June Hershberger of Die Heimat Country Inn, Homestead, are offering a breakfast for ten people on a Monday through Friday in the month of December, 2018.
Treat yourself to a Chinese Dumpling meal for 4-6 people at Isaac and Emily Hooley's Iowa City Home! Guests can choose to come and help make/assemble the dumplings or just come and enjoy the food.
Start your day right with a morning brunch for 8 people at Loretta Kauffman's secluded country home near Iowa City.
Experience a Brazilian/Dominican meal for 8 persons in Galen Graber and Ruth Brenneman's rural Wellman home.
Enjoy an old-fashioned, traditional meal at Loran and April Yoder's Frytown home for 10 people. Use before May 1, 2019.
Served at East Union Mennonite Church, rural Kalona, 16 people will enjoy a mystery dinner by Mary Helen Miller and Grace Rempel on Friday, Feb 15, 2019, 6 pm. Sold by the plate. You will use a menu with clues to order food for each course. (NOT a murder mystery)
Experience the outdoors with a picnic meal for 8-10 people in the timber of Larry and Carolyn Detweiler's. This includes a hayride, swings, outdoor games and hiking.
This creative meal for 10 people offered by Jerry and Lou Miller will be cooked in a stainless steel cream can and served in their barn, preferably during mid summer through autumn. Expect to have fun!

6 people are invited to a traditional family style meal given by the Great Bluegrass Herons followed by 45 minutes of Live Music.
Enjoy a traditional, family-style meal for 8 people in the home of Henry JC and Ila Miller, or she will bring it to your home. Expires in one year.
Participate in a Pizza Night at Geyer's Oven Pizza, Rural Oxford for 6 people. Use in summer, June-September 2019 on nights the oven is regularly open.

A fun evening is in store for 4-8 people as they partake in a Homemade Pizza and Game Night at Dick and Susan See's Washington home. Guests can choose from the many board and trivia games, carom, cards, etc. the See's have, OR bring your own games. Or just sing around their piano!

Roger and Janet Stutzman offer a meal for 8-10 people. Menu will be arranged with the buyer.
Experience a "Bad Taste Dinner Party" for 8 people at Firman and Susan Gingerich's Tiffin home. Date is negotiable "at everybody's inconvenience." Menu will include food your mother never served on Sunday. Guests should come to party dressed in bad taste; bad manners will be expected. This party is not for the faint of heart!
Nyle & Lauralee Kauffman will serve a traditional meal at their home in rural Iowa City for 10-12 people.
You are invited to the home of Ellis & Marcia Miller, rural Kalona, where you will be served a 5-course dinner on WEDNESDAY, May 29, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Weather permitting, the dessert bar will be served on the patio. This meal will be sold BY THE SINGLE PLATE, with a total of 12 plates to be sold.
Roy and Janet Beachy, Kalona, offer a pork dinner for 8-10 people at their home.
Warm up to a 4 course soup supper for 8 people at Marv and Grace Rempel's Frytown home this winter.
